The tool manufacturer Dewalt is moving into the construction technology realm with digital solutions. The construction industry is becoming more connected with smart personal protective equipment (PPE) and Internet of Things (IoT) equipment to enhance productivity, profitability, and safety.
Dewalt is launching a fully connected system. It will include a WiFi mesh network and an Internet of Things (IoT) platform. Dewalt's goal is to enhance construction professionals productivity, profitability, and safety.
Dewalt noticed that the construction industry is seeing a higher dependence on digital. With smart personal protective equipment (PPE), the Internet of Things (IoT), and needing to be connected for communication purposes.
Dewalt has patented a WiFi mesh technology that is rugged and able to withstand harsh and variable conditions that are seen on construction sites.
Taylor Cupp of Mortenson Construction said, "Entering the connectivity space is a great move for Dewalt and a promising opportunity for the industry. They bring a wealth of expertise to the industry as the first company to truly focus on creating a platform to support the Internet of Things. In tackling connectivity, we see huge potential and opportunity for Dewalt and the wider construction community."
