TERRELLS -- An employee at a Duke Energy power plant was not injured after being trapped briefly in coal storage area Wednesday morning, company officials say.

It happened shortly after 6 a.m. at the Marshall Steam Station, off N.C. 150 in southeast Catawba County.

According to reports, an employee was operating a bulldozer when the vehicle fell into a recessed area used to store coal. Emergency crews lowered a ladder into the hole and pulled the trapped employee out.
