GE to Provide Water recycling tech for Chinese coal-fired power plant

Shanghai -- GE is going to be providing advanced waste water treatment equipment for a Chinese coal-fired power plant.

According to GE will provide "its membrane and brine concentration technologies followed by crystallization to produce pure NaCI sale (sodium chloride)."  The technology is called zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and it treats flue gas desulfurization wastewater.  China has new environmental standards, and this technology will reuse 99% of the FGD blowdown wastewater.  That water will be recycled and used as makeup water.

This will help China meet its goal of moving high-pollution plants out of the high-population Bejing area.
