BASF Opens First Construction Chemical Plant

BASF has opened its first chemical plant for producing construction chemicals in Sri Lanka.

The construction chemicals that will be produced at this facility include concrete admixtures like MasterGlenium, MasterPolyheed, MasterRheobuild, and Master Pozzolith.  BASF is helping Sri Lanka meet the need for construction chemicals in the area.  The location will also have a warehouse and testing lab for tailor-made recipes.

The vice president of Asia Pacific market management construction chemicals, Himanshu Kapadia said, "Asia-Pacific is one of the fastest growing markets globally, and South Asia is a strategic growth engine of this market."  He added, "With the new admixture plant in Colombo, we will now be able to rapidly supply our customers with admixtures for all cement and aggregate type, whether their construction projects are located in the capital or in remote areas."

Sri Lanka is seeing an upward swing in construction.  This is creating a strong demand for concrete admixture.

BASF also has production facilities in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
