Construction worker dies in industrial accident in Rosenberg

ROSENBERG, Texas – A construction worker died in an industrial accident Saturday at SCR Construction, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

Feliciano Ramirez Puerta, 49, of Houston, died during an explosion when he was working on barrels with a cutting torch, deputies said.

At about 11 a.m., deputies arrived at the site, located in the 2400 block of FM 2218, concerning a report of an explosion and fatality. Deputies said Fort Bend EMS personnel also were at the scene.

An employee of SCR Construction said he was working inside the building when an explosion shook parts of the structure. He went out to investigate and found Puerta on the ground next to a metal barrel.

The employee said that the barrels Puerta was working on were marked as containing a cleanser.
