power plant to nursing school

Providence, RI -- A former power plant in Providence is currently being renovated and converted into a nursing school.

The project is due to be completed in January by CV Properties.  The power plant will be used for Brown University offices and a nursing education center for University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.  Students will be able to start attending classes in the building by fall.

Nursing students will use the facility to learn through simulated emergency rooms with replica hospital settings.  Two new floors will be added to the original power plant for the Brown University offices.

The project got started when university leaders began questioning what to do with the empty power plant building.  Read the full story here.
