Employees of a Jones County electric power generating plant were able to extinguish a brief fire following a transformer explosion at that facility Thursday night.  Jones County fire officials were notified just before 6:45 p.m. about the fire at the J.T. Dudley, Sr. Generation Complex in Moselle, but when they arrived, it was already out.

They say a small amount of fluid leaked from the transformer, but it was contained to the immediate area around the unit.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the explosion has not been determined.

The plant supplies power for South Mississippi Electric Power Association. Company officials said all safety and protective procedures were followed and worked according to their design.
