Six people have been reported injured in a chemical explosion at the Rolls Royce plant.  A 250-gallon tank of nitric acid exploded.  The incident happened around 1:30pm this afternoon.  It is unclear how the explosion occurred.

By 2:15pm, fire and medical crews had already treated 6 Rolls Royce employees for exposure to the acid.  Five of them needed to be taken to area hospitals.

It has not been announced how serious the injuries are.  Nitric acid is corrosive and can cause severe burns to skin.

Fire crews reported they had seen a "chemical cloud" inside the plant.

The incident was declared under control by 2:40pm.
