Incident at Drake Power Plant Precedes Three-alarm Fire

A three-alarm fire at Martin Drake Power Plant this morning sent huge plumes of smoke over Colorado Springs.  The fire was reported at 9:45am.

At 10am, flames were visible on the southern side of the building and smoke was visible in downtown Colorado Springs. 

Firefighters reported that all plant employees were out of the plant.  A three block voluntary evacuation also took place.  

The fire disrupted power for 10,000 businesses and residences.

The fire was prompted by an undisclosed incident.
