A four-alarm recycling plant fire near Middleton High School has caused some issues for the school.  Tampa Fire Rescue was on the scene yesterday with about 500 men, working to extinguish the fire.

The fire began in a conveyor area.  The abundance of fuel sources - cardboard, plastics, and other recyclables - are making it difficult to fight the fire.

Fire Chief Thomas Forward reported that crews have been called to this plant many times in the past as well.  He also noted that the plant has a good safety program and notified fire rescue quickly of the fire.

No injuries have been reported.
