Colorado Springs Utilities has made progress in repairing damage from Duke Power Plant's May fire.

"We've had construction activity underway basically since right after we had access to the facility," said Daniel Higgins, interium general manager of the energy supply department at Colorado Springs Utilities.

Units 5, 6, and 7 were damaged in the fire.  Unit 6 is planned to be running by July and Unit 7 should be running by the fall.  Unit 5 was the worst and it is unclear when that unit will run again.  By fall, Drake should be up to 80% capacity.

If you saw the earlier post on the Drake Power Plant fire, you saw that utility bills were increased to make up the cost associated with getting electricity from another source.  Once Drake is up to 80%, the utility increase should be reduced.
