Residents were evacuated after a chemical plant fire in Greenville, SC. The fire broke out on June 27th at 5:30am. A chemical cloud could be seen above the plant.
"We know that we inconvenienced a lot of people this morning, but at the end of the day we had no injuries, nobody hurt, everybody went home safe and what could have been pretty significant was maintained as a very small incident," said Chief Jay Mitchell with Gantt Fire Department.
It took several hours to put out the fire. Crews used soda ash to smother it, instead of water.
