plant fire protection contractorBurlington, KS -- The Wolf Creek Nuclear Plant in Kansas experienced a fire event yesterday, prompting an alert and the evacuation of non-essential plant staff.

The fire was reported at 1:30pm in an emergency diesel generator room.  The plant has an on-site fire brigade, and they successfully extinguished the fire before county fire crews arrived.

The plant is 100% stable, and no radiation was released as a result of the fire.

Damage is unknown at this time.  The plant is required  to restore the emergency generator to an operable state within 72 hours or bring the plant offline.
