plant fire protection contractorMoonachie, NJ -- A mixture of hydrogen and oxygen caused an explosion at the Crest Foam Industries headquarters.  Four employees were injured and seventeen employees were able to evacuate on their own.

The explosion was so loud it was heard a town over.

"It almost knocked us off our feet," said Moonachie Fire Lt. Justin Derevyanik.

The explosion prompted twelve fire departments to respond.  Several hazmat units responded as well.

911 conducted a reverse call to local residents warning them to stay in their homes, close windows, and avoid the outdoor air for fear of chemical exposure.  Hazmat later confirmed that the public was not in danger.
