oil storage tank fire protection contractorWilliston, ND -- More than 1,600 barrels of crude caught fire over the New Year holiday.  While trucks were delivering oil, storage tanks caught fire across from the Enbridge Inc crude facility.  Fire officials let the fires burn out.

The fire sparked when two trucks were delivering crude to the 12-tank battery.  Each tank has 210 barrels.  Eight tanks caught fire.

No one was injured and the facility was undamaged.  The cause is under investigation.  Foul play is not believed to be a factor.  A possible factor could be the trucks.  Each truck that delivers fuel must be grounded, but if it is not grounded properly, it could cause an electrical discharge that will spark a fire.
