Florence, KY -- Seventy firefighters were called to a large recycling plant fire on Tuesday at 5:30pm.
The fire started in some recycling material, believed to be stacks of cardboard, at the back of the plant. While the fire was contained to the back of the building, firefighters stayed overnight to watch for flare ups.
Lorence Fire Chief Kelly Aylor said that the fire could flare up deep in the piles of cardboard as air flows between them. The cardboard had to be torn apart to get to the hot spots.
Firefighters believe a cigarette is to blame for the fire.
