Heavy flames and smoke could be seen for miles after a sheet metal plant explosion. The explosion and subsequent five-alarm fire was at the Trico Metal Products Plant. Fire crews were called to the scene at 5:20pm.
The front and back wall of the facility collapsed from overheated compressed gas cylinders causing numerous explosions.
"There are no hazardous materials or anything that affected the community. However, as a danger to firefighters there were multiple explosions and a building collapse," said Willow Grove Fire Chief Brian Focht.
The building and surrounding businesses were evacuated. No one was injured. By 8pm, firefighters were able to control the flames. The business was gutted.
