A mine in rebel-held Ukraine had a gas explosion. It is feared that 33 miners are dead and dozens more are trapped.
Because this mine is in a conflict zone, the death toll has been difficult to assess. The speaker of Ukraine's parliament, Volodymyr Grosmas said, "A tragedy occurred...at the Zasyadko mine. There are dead - at the moment - 32 people." However, he later amended that it is not known if the 32 people were alive or dead.
Vladimir Tsymbalenko, the head of the local mining safety service said, "Rescue workers have not yet come to the place of the explosion, they are removing the poisonous gas and then will go down." Local officials are saying that 30 people have been killed; although it is not official.
