Grandview, MO -- A fire was reported at a food chemical plant in Missouri. There was an explosion around a dust collector. It severely damaged a wall in the building.
The Fire Chief Ron Graham said, "When you're manufacturing all this, you have a lot of dust, which is explosive. So they have collectors to try to clean all that up and contain it. Every now and then something goes wrong and you'll have a small explosion, in this case it was a bit bigger explosion."
When the fire department arrived, they reported an explosion with fire and three injured employees. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
