Whitewright, TX -- Seventeen fire departments responded to a Texas plant fire that destroyed two buildings. Departments from Grayson, Collin, and Fannin arrived at the scene.
The first call came at 5:05am on Saturday; five hours later the fire was extinguished.
"When I first got here, there was smoke coming out at the seams, gables, and trim. This morning, the hardest thing was keeping people out of the hazardous areas," said Whitewright Mayor Allen West.
The fire was difficult to fight because the plant manufactured plastics.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Grayson County Fire Marshal Kevin Walton said, "It's not suspicious; it's a manufacturing plant. When they came back at 5am, that's when the fire was discovered. It makes me want to lean toward something electrical."
The power and utilities were cut off to the entire downtown area during the fight.
No injuries were reported.
