Gilbert, AZ -- A transformer fire in Arizona sent a large plume of smoke into the air on Friday.
The fire, which took place at the San Tan Generating Station, was reported at 6am.
The Gilbert Fire Department reported that the transformer caught fire. The fire department worked with SRP personnel to ensure that the transformer was de-energized before they fought the fire. This delayed the firefighters by 20 minutes.
The fire did not cause any outages or injuries. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes.
