gas-fired power plantLee County, IL -- Invergy Clean Power has announced the start of its commercial operations of a 600MW gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant.

F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems was originally contracted to complete this project in 2001.  However, mid-project, it was cancelled because of an over production of power.  In 2014, Invenergy brought the once defunct project back.  There was a new need for power and with the low cost of gas, it was the perfect time.  F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems completed the project, and it is about to begin operating with its clean fuel.

A portion of the output is being sold to long-term WPPI Energy - a regional power company serving 51 locally owned, not-for-profit electric utilities.  The remaining power will be sold to PJM wholesale market.
