Thermal Power Plant Fire | F.E. Moran Special Hazard SystemsBetul -- A major fire broke out at the Satpura thermal power station late last week.  The plant was damaged, but luckily, no casualties or injuries were reported.

"The blaze broke out at the generator transformer of the plant, after which power generation at unit numbers 10 and 11, totalling 500 MW, has been stopped," said Satpura thermal power plant's public relations officer, Shashikant Malviya.

It took about five hours to contain the blaze.

"This is the second such incident at the power station in just two days as unit number 9 had caught fire earlier," said Malviya.  "Due to the fire, the power generation has reduced to nearly hald at 620MW.  The total capacity of the power station is 1330MW."
