Power Plant Fire at Substation | F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems

A fire ignited at the Peabody Municipal Light Plant substation this morning.

The fire started when a circuitry malfunction occurred when the power plant was exercising a turbine.  The fire department couldn't begin fighting the fire until energy was cut to the substation.  Otherwise, there could have been the risk of electrocution.

Luckily, no injuries occurred.  However, there was significant damage to the substation.  The fire was isolated to the components that initially caught fire.
