Oklahoma Power Plant Explosion and Fire | F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems

Mayes County, OK -- An explosion and fire injured workers at an Oklahoma power plant over the weekend.

The fire at the coal-burning power plant happened at 3:30am on Sunday, and resulted in minor injuries to three people.  The explosion happened from "construction-related activity" that was being performed on the unit 2 generator.

There was no structural damage to the plant itself.

"The job site has been shut down as the investigation continues, although Unit 1 at the facility remains in operation," said Alberty.

The site is also home to a natural gas unit that broke ground in March and is expected to be completed in two years.
