Five Injured in Newark Chemical Plant Fire | F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems

Newark, OH -- Five people were injured when an explosion ignited at a chemical plant that makes sterols.

The explosion occurred in a collection tank that holds hexane and ethanol.  The explosion does not look suspicious, but arson investigators are on the scene.  Employees of the chemical plant are also conducting their own internal investigation as to what caused the blaze.

Five people were injured in the explosion with no life-threatening injuries.  

When fire crews arrived, there were heavy flames.  Luckily, crews, along with proper fire protection, were able to extinguish the flames within an hour.  The cost of the damages are not yet known.
