Fire Causes Damage at Mayo Power Plant

Mayo Power Plant Fire

Eau Claire, WI -- An equipment fire caused $300,000 in damages to a power plant that powers the Mayo Clinic Health System.

At 8:30am, the Eau Claire Fire Department was called to the Mayo Clinic Health System Energy Plant when the chiller motor caught fire.  Luckily, the fire was contained to the area of origin.  The fire was quickly extinguished, and smoke was vented from the building.

There was one person inside the building at the time of the fire, andd that person escaped unharmed.

No patients were harmed by the event.  There was no interruption of service to any buildings at the Mayo Clinic.
