Nuclear Power Plant Employee Skips Fire Watches | F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems

Plymouth, MA -- Plymouth Nuclear Plant is in hot water after a security guard admitted to skipping fire watches and falsifying records.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission sent a letter to Entergy noting that investigators found that the security guard skipped more than 200 fire watches between 2012 and 2014.  The plant could be fined up to $140,000 per day, per violation.  At this point, a civil penalty will not be assessed.

Entergy conducted an internal investigation and found that the employee did, in fact, skip fire watches and falsified records.  The employee was fired.  Entergy is still determining how they will respond.

This particular plant is scheduled to close in 2019.
