Salt Lake City, UT -- Fire crews extinguished a 2-alarm fire at a chemical plant in Salt Lake City on May 16. The fire started at Brenntag Pacific.
The fire started in an add-on structure that was connected to the main chemical plant. The add-on housed empty plastic drums that had stored various chemicals. The drums were all damaged in the fire.
The fire grew and extended to the main building. Once it reached the main building, the fire sprinkler system was able to activate and suppressed the fire's growth. Firefighters arrived and within 20 minutes were able to control the fire and extinguish it.
Fifteen employees were at the scene and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
