Bladen County Chemical Plant

Elizabethtown, NC -- A chemical plant fire shut down roads in North Carolina.  It took fire crews an entire workday to extinguish the fire.

The fire ignited at Tiger Products, a chemical plant in Elizabethtown.  Fire crews were called to the scene at 9:30am on Monday.  The fire grew more powerful and additional crews were called to the scene.  The Fayetteville Hazardous-material team also reported to the plant.

The fire caused roads to shut down and an evacuation of residents within a quarter mile radius.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.  No injuries were reported.  It has not been reported if fire sprinklers were installed at the facility.
