In 2015, 5,000 workers died on the job.  Of those 5,000, 38.8% were from falls (Bureau of Labor Statistics).  A new IoT wearable device can keep construction workers safe from falls with a waterproof belt sensor.

The technology was made by Triax Technologies.  They provide wearable tech for construction sites.  Their IoT-based sensor clips to a belt.  If the worker slips, trips, or falls, safety personnel is alerted in real time.  The construction worker ultimately gets first aid faster.  The sensor also allows workers to send safety alerts during emergencies.  From there, an authorized person can send an evacuation alert to everyone wearing the sensor.

The sensor is waterproof with a 1-year battery life.
