F.E. Moran Fire Protection provides service and inspection for fire sprinklers in the Chicagoland area for all projects, no matter how big or small. The department is staffed with NICET II certified inspectors, a state of Illinois requirement since 2009, and local 281 sprinkler fitters.
Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Inspection Testing and Maintenance
F.E. Moran provides a full array of inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) services. They provide ITM for wet-pipe, dry pipe, deluge, pre-action, anti-freeze, water mist, and foam fire sprinklers as well as standpipes, kitchen hood systems, alarms, pumps, mains, and hydrants.
In addition to ITM, they train building owners and property managers on proper maintenance to keep their fire protection working seamlessly.
F.E. Moran Fire Protection manages the deterioration of fire sprinkler pipes by providing management. There are three main causes for pipe deterioration: contaminated water, pH balance, and a warm environment. Air pollution and various contaminants in the air can affect the water within the pipes and either cause deterioration, the breaking down of the pipe, or corrosion, blocking off the water supply from the sprinkler head.
F.E. Moran Fire Protection has a corrosion management program to lessen the chances of a fire sprinkler from failing when it is needed. They provide consulting, treatment, monitoring, inspection, sampling, flushing, and water testing to ensure corrosion is not impeding the fire sprinkler system.

Building Owner’s Responsibilities
F.E. Moran Fire Protection recommends that building owners or property managers follow these procedures to keep fire protection systems working optimally:
- Whenever possible, visually inspect fire sprinkler systems to ensure that all components are intact. Decorations hanging from a sprinkler head or paint covering a sprinkler can impede the fire sprinkler from activating or reaching its full potential.
- Keep areas with water - wet-pipe sprinklers, valve rooms, or fire pump enclosures - above forty degrees. Along with that, ensure that doors and windows near these areas are properly closed during the cold months to avoid a frozen fire sprinkler.
- Inspect all fire protection areas that have water to ensure that there isn't any corrosion that could block the water flow when a fire sprinkler needs to activate
