New York -- A pedestrian was struck in the head by falling wood when he was walking near a construction site.
The victim was between 60 and 70 years old. He was walking near a construction site at 4pm when a 6.5 foot wood panel fell from the safety wall and struck the victim in the head. The man fell to the ground, bleeding.
"There is a lot of blood on the ground. They put sand on the ground to cover it up," said an on-site worker.
Witnesses said two women went to the man's aid, trying to keep him awake while another man diverted traffic. The victim was reported as groggy, but alert and conscious. He was transported to Bellvue Hospital by emergency units for further evaluation.
