construction safetyYonkers, NY -- The owner of a construction company was crushed to death when a crane fell on him while working in Manhattan.

Trevor Loftus, 40, was killed on Saturday at 11:50am.  He owned Kenry Construction and was operating a crane.  He noticed a leak and stopped to inspect it.  The crane dropped and pinned him.  He later died of his injuries.

Loftus was a native of Ireland.  He played soccer and hurling at club Pallaskenry GAA.  After his playing days, he was a supporter and assisted in fundraising.

Trish O'Dows, treasurer of the club, said, "He was a good club man and in later years supported our fundraisers.  He always put his mam and younger brothers first in anything and was a great family man.  Obviously we are raw since his death and hope he sleeps in peace."
