A National Safety Council recently did a study that showed that 58% of Americans working in construction felt that safety wasn't as important as productivity. In fact, they were worried that they wouldn't make it home after work.
The study showed that 51% of construction professionals believe that management only does the minimum required by law to keep them safe. Only 32% of the 2,000 construction professionals surveyed believed that their employers went above and beyond on safety, making their safety a priority.
"Sadly, the results of our survey indicate that many workers still worry about whether they will make it home safely tonight," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. "We call on all employers to renew their commitment to keep everyone safe, on every job, each and every day."
