Man Dies in Construction Site Explosion | F.E. Moran

A construction worker was killed when an explosive detonated early.

The man, who was in his 60s, was a highly skilled and experienced construction worker.  He went to check on an explosive that went off early at 11:30am.  At that time, a second explosive detonated early.

"He was an expert in the field, and it's a normal part of his job," said Inspector Paul Breen.  "Unfortunately, until it's fully investigated, we won't know what has gone on."

The explosives were being used to soften the ground, so they could lay underground pipe for a new housing development.
