An ex-Citibank executive was found guilty of taking bribes in exchange for giving construction jobs to subcontractors.
The bribes came to John Cassisi in envelopes filled with cash, checks made out to a fake company, lavish trips, and favors. The bribes he received were between $500k and $1 million. The construction companies provided bribes over three years in exchange for winning $1.6 billion in contracts for the Citibank TriBeCa location.
Cassasi was a former child actor and electrician, turned construction executive. In 2012, he became the director of global construction for Citi Realty Services.
Cassisi was found guilty of money laundering and receiving commercial bribes. He will get 2-6 years in state prison and need to pay back $500k.
