Quito, Ecuador -- When a major infrastructure collapsed in Ecuador, thirteen construction workers were killed and dozens were injured.
The infrastucture was at the Sinclair Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 1,500 megawatt power plant. A collapse in the pressure well caused the infrastructure to collapse.
President Rafael Correa tweeted, "Our hearts go out to their families and co-workers."
The Embassy released a statement, "We ask Chinese companies to reflect on this event, learn from this painful lesson, take appropriate measures, and increase safety to better protect Chinese and Ecuadorian workers."
