Construction job openings are at 108-month high. This indicates a strong labor market.
The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey was released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday morning. This is an increase of 10 basis-point (2.9%) increase from February and a 30 basis-point increase from March 2015. In April 2009, construction job openings were at an all time low after the housing bubble burst. At this point, construction jobs are second only to 2007 data.
The rate of total construction separations (quits, layoffs, and discharges) went up 5.0% from February 2016, but down 30 basis points from March 2015.
