constructionBurnaby, BC -- More than 500 snakes were found at a construction site.  Construction workers found the den while digging under rocks to reinforce a dyke.

The snakes were hybernating in the den.  They ranged from 3 inches to 3 feet long.  Some were injured from the construction work.

The construction crews contacted the Wildlife Rescue Association.  "I came over here and buckets and buckets....full of 350 different snakes.  Later in the day we got 150 more.  We have 518 all together now," said Janelle Vanderbeek with the association.

The snakes are currently being nursed back to health.
