Chicago Construction Worker Killed by Beam | The Moran Group

Chicago, IL -- A worker was killed and three were injured when a 45-ton beam fell  during a construction project on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway this morning.

Around 3am, construction workers were working on I-90 in Des Plaines when a large beam crashed down, injuring four people who were working below.  The beam was used to support the bridge that was being worked on.  It was being moved by two cranes when it fell on the roadway.

One person was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.  Three others were treated at local hospital for minor injuries.  They are listed in good condition.

It is unknown why the bridge support collapsed.
