5 Workers Die in Construction Accident in Mexico

Mexico -- Five construction workers were killed and two were injured when a human error caused scaffolding to collapse, sending the men falling 82 feet to the ground.

The accident happened within the first few minutes of the workday on Friday morning.  Three of the workers were pronounced dead at the scene.  Two others died at local hospitals.  The two other workers are in serious condition and remain hospitalized.

The construction company, Alfa Suppliers and Contractors S.A. of C.V. released a statement saying they regret the accident and said it was caused by human error.  They are taking full responsibility.  "The company will at all times aid the families of the workers involved in the accident and will pay all the associated expenses," the release said.
