Classes are canceled for Monday and Tuesday at Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL after a blaze on Saturday night.

Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh declined to describe the fire as suspicious, but is questioning individuals.  Everyone who was in the building at the time of the fire safely evacuated.

Firefighters arrived around 9pm on Saturday.  Ten rooms were damaged.  The classrooms and offices affected are being relocated to another part of the building.

Sam Shahne, 27, was working at Maywood Express a quarter mile away from the school and saw the smoke billowing in the air.

"There was a lot of heavy smoke but it seems to have died down now.  There's a really bad smell, too.  The smoke is coming from the third window," he said.

There were no reports of fire sprinklers in the school.
