The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of a convenience store fire near the Champaign-Urbana area in Paxton, IL.

Firefighters arrived to the All Star Gas Station at 2:15am this morning in response to a reportPaxton fire 05212014 Photo by Will Blumleve of the Paxton Record of a fire.  Flames were shooting from the roof area on the east end of the convenience store.

Fifteen firefighters fought the blaze and had it under control within forty minutes.  However, the fire gutted the building from the inside.  The outside looks hardly touched.

"It did a lot of damage throughout the building," said Denny Kingren, chief of the Paxton Fire Protection District.

Kingren suspects that the fire was started from an electrical issue.

No fire protection was reported.
