Fire Damages Magic Mountain Roller Coaster

Los Angeles Co, CA -- On Monday, September 8, a fire caused part of the Colossus roller Colossus Coaster Fire, to collapse.  No injuries were reported.

The fire was reported around 1:30pm.  Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire in 30 minutes.

The top of the coaster collapsed after flames charred is 125 feet above the ground.  The fire started when crews were dismantling the ride.  Authorities are working on finding a cause.

The Colossus roller coaster was the tallest roller coaster when it was built in 1978.  It closed this past August to be turned into  a roller coaster called Twisted Colossus, set to open next spring.
