Subcontractor Killed in Quarry Accident

A 73 year old man died yesterday in a fatal construction site accident.

Robert Shelby Hill was a subcontractor working with Leo Journagan Construction Company.  He was working on loading a dump truck, walked across the road, and was hit by a front-end loader.

The accident was reported at 6:08am.  He was pronounced dead at 6:12am.

Hill's daughter was  interviewed by the Springfield News-Leader.  "He was a wonderful man.  A kind and wonderful man."  She confirmed that Hill's job was operating dump trucks.

A representative for Leo Journagan Construction said, "We have a good safety record.  Safety of our employees and people on our site is our number one priority."

OSHA is investigating.
