Lake Geneva Hotel Saved by Fire Sprinklers

hotel fire sprinklerLake Geneva, WI -- The Lake Geneva hotel, The Cove, had a fire Thursday night, sending several fire departments to the scene.  Luckily, a single fire sprinkler activated, extinguishing the fire.

A fire was detected Thursday night in the sauna.  The first firefighters on the scene quickly found the smoke and fire.  The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System was pulled, bringing additional crews to the scene.  However, it proved unneeded.

"We pulled the Box Alarm because of the size and occupancy of the structure.  Fortunately, the fire sprinkler functioned exactly as it was designed to, which prevented a much more serious fire  from causing extensive damage," said Lake Geneva Deputy Fire Chief Dan Derrick.
