Fargo, ND -- A single sprinkler head knocked out a warehouse fire in the early hours of January 10.
Fire crews were called to North Dakota warehouse at 4:30pm on Saturday. When they arrived, alarms were sounding. However, when firefighters found the fire, it was being controlled by a single sprinkler head that had activated.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to the NFPA, buildings that experienced a fire with fire sprinklers have less than half the damage as buildings that had a fire without fire sprinklers. An example of this is this blog post about a warehouse fire in Rockford, IL where the fire sprinklers were not maintained and they did not activate. That building is a total loss.
