Harlem, NY -- A fire erupted at a high-rise apartment overlooking Central Park yesterday. It is the site of a 1987 fire that killed 7 people.
Dozens of units reported to the fire that erupted at 11:50pm. 140 firefighters from 33 units fought the 3-alarm fire.
The fire started in an apartment on the 17th floor of a 35-story apartment building. The fire spread to the 18th floor before firefighters could get it under control. They gained control by 1:20am.
Four people were taken to the hospital. Crews expect the number of injured to rise as they search the building.
Residents called to complain about the smoke and they were told to stay in the building.
