Los Angeles, CA -- One man was killed and fifteen were injured when a motel caught fire in South Los Angeles.

The fire was reported at 3:13am at a 2-story building in Wilmington.

"There were over 100 firefighters, so we had 16 companies, five command teams, paramedic rescues - so we had a lot of resources we threw on this immediately," said LAFD's Ronnie Villanueva.

The fire was extinguished by 4:08am.

An adult male was pronounced dead at the scene and fifteen others were transported to a local hospital (12 had minor to moderate injuries).  A total of 29 people were occupying the 20 unit motel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
